1. What we use today
Storage for language, your consent choice, sign-in and local projects is necessary and relies on § 25 (2) TDDDG and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR without consent. The separately listed affiliate cookie is optional and requires marketing consent. Each row reads: name — purpose — type — duration.
- geckify.lang — remembers the language you chose for the site — cookie — 12 months
- geckify.lang — mirror of the language choice for the client-side app — localStorage — until you clear browser data
- geckify.consent — records which cookie categories you allowed or declined — cookie and localStorage — 12 months
- session cookie — keeps you signed in; contains a random identifier only — httpOnly cookie — until you sign out or the session expires
- local projects — your projects and prompts in the local preview — localStorage and IndexedDB — until you delete them or clear browser data
- uploaded images — images you attach to a local project — IndexedDB — until you delete them or clear browser data
- promotekit_referral — only with your consent to "marketing": which partner link brought you here — cookie set by the PromoteKit script — for the duration set in the partner programme, until you withdraw consent or clear browser data
2. Analytics and marketing
We set no analytics cookies. One marketing tool exists, and only for our partner programme: if you switch "marketing" on, the site loads the PromoteKit script, which notes in the cookie promotekit_referral which partner link brought you to Geckify, so that a later purchase can be credited to that partner. At checkout this referral is passed to Stripe as part of the order. Without your consent the script is never loaded and nothing is recorded; withdrawing consent removes the cookie again. Legal basis: your consent (§ 25 (1) TDDDG, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
3. Changing your choice
Reopen the banner any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer to change or withdraw your choice. For residents of California and other US states this link is also how a "Do not sell or share my personal information" request is honoured; optional affiliate tracking stays off by default and is disabled by Global Privacy Control even after earlier marketing consent. You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser settings — note that this also deletes local preview projects you have not exported.
4. Third-party services
Checkout pages hosted by Stripe or a Merchant of Record may set their own strictly necessary cookies while you are on their pages. They are covered by the respective provider's cookie information and are not used by us for tracking.
